Thirty Years of Stoke Newington

For those of you who enjoy surfing on a wave of nostalgia, spend a little time browsing through Alan Denney’s fantastic photo set of Stoke Newington life, 1978 to the present.

Some of the roadscapes have changed radically. Others, not at all.

You’ll see the funeral of Michael Fereira, who died in Stoke Newington Police station, clumsy sloganeering by the SWP, GLC posters, the binmen’s strike, and some old men in heavy coats.

Thank you, Alan.

Bravo! A nice treat for this Yank who’ll probably never get to visit the UK. Are there other similar slide shows to view?

I’ve only really taken photographs of places I know- apart from holiday snaps-and I very rarely cross the river.
