Bad news this morning, the great Miriam Makeba has died, apparently of a heart attack after a show in Italy. She was truly one of the great South African artists of her time, but sadly, like other musicians like Hugh Masekela, the Apartheid regime forced her into exile and most of her career was spent abroad, depriving her compatriots of her talent for most of her career.
