It’s a great song, that - even though The Killers are normally shite. The lyrics analysis bit just makes me glad that I pay very little attention to the words. He says ‘dancer’, definitely, and I like that I’m not sure - nor particularly care - why.

Sounds like a bad eighties re-tread to me - something that the Silencers might have done under a hangover.
Anyway is this a variation on “scuse me while I kiss this guy” or “Is this real life or is it just Battersea” or something?

On second thoughts these lyrics make complete sense if you have ever seen the kind of dance students who emerge from the Laban centre every lunchtime.

hahahah.
It is a great song, though, isn’t it?

It has a similar vibe to ‘He’s On The Phone’ - I quite like the cheesy tranc-eyness of it.

It really isn’t my kind of thing - I can imagine Ven dancing to it.

Nah, Graham, nah. I think it’s alright, but no more. Interesting you should compare it to the Silencers - the Adventures (stripped of Celtic angst) came to mind for me. I feel as though I am at least 10 years too old to listen to this stuff tbh.

Oh come on you are never too old for pop music!

It put me more in mind of a Gary Numan lyric, or perhaps the kind of thing you might have heard on the first few Simple Minds album; all ennui-laden Mitteleurop Weltanschauung, and all those other phrases that used to turn up in NME reviews of Lou Reed records in the mid-70s. It’s a good deal more cheerful than any of them, though.

Not the best of it, sure.

Come on you guys! Isn’t it obvious? This is a Christmas song! “Are we Dancer” refers to the former lead reindeer on Santa’s sleigh. No one wants to be Dancer because he was demoted when Rudolph got the top job. Grab your copy of ‘Twas the Night- and see which reindeer was formerly listed first. Now all Dancer has is a first-class view of Rudolph’s sack and he’s not very happy about it. Are we human? Or do we have to stare at Rudolph’s sack… I believe that was the first draft of the song…

Great Vid. but, I didn’t realise the Killers wrote songs only for Americans??? That is a very narrow minded view from the video author. But yeh, good song
