Michael Jackson 1958-2009 – R.I.P.

I just turned on the TV News to hear that Michael Jackson has died. He was due to begin a series of comeback concerts next month.

Well, it goes without saying that he’s had his ups and downs, with more downs lately, followed by even more downs, but no one can take away his period of sheer pop genius. There’s very little else that can be said.

I think I’ll go and give my 7″ vinyl copy of Billie Jean a spin.

I find it quite annoying the way the BBC is fishing for someone to blame. Their chief villians at the moment are the concert promoters who organised the “grueling 50 date tour”.

So, to all MJ fans who bought tickets: You, you killed Michael Jackson.

**sigh**

This is supremely depressing.

G-d bless and RIP Michael Jackson.

I heard he was found in the children’s ward having a stroke

I genuinely heard Jonathan Margolis on BBC News 24 saying “I think the most extraordinary thing was the way he affected children.”

I’m surprised that no-one has come up with the obvious conspiracy theory; the Iranian secret police poisoned him in order to distract the US’s attention from the protests.

I await Charles Krauthammer’s condemnation of Obama’s failure to protect Jackson at this crucial time.

One less paedophile in the world (allegedly)

Oh and in the early 80′s he did two not bad albums and in the 70s some awful awful child pop.

But fundamentally he was a molestor of children (allegedly)

P.s. This is a great day actually, not sad or depressing. Admittadly lawyers specialising in defending rich paedophiles will have to find other employment but on the other hand child protection officers in California will have a reduced workload.

Can’t think of any songs he did that I liked, they were all the sound of overproduction imo. Course I was into gloomy northern english guitar bands at the time he was supposedly hitting his purple patch and still looking more or less human. The ‘Weird’ Al Yankovich spoofs were alright though.

Why are we getting all lachrymose about some fucking nonce? He was just Gary Glitter with better lawyers.

Oh, come on, Billie Jean is marvellous. And gloomy northern english guitar bands are shite.

Sackcloth and ashes has it so right. It’s fucking Princess D all over again…for a kiddy-fiddler with a silly voice and false nose.

Clearly for all his talent, by the end Michael Jackson was deformed and deranged, the Dorian Grey portrait had come down from the attic.

It is interesting to speculate how extreme fame does that to you. Look at Madonna, when she started she used to claim that because she did not become a star until she was in her mid 20s, and still had a loving family to keep her grounded, she would not go the same way as Elvis.

I have just been reading her brother’s account of her rise to stardom and it is clear that as she rose ever higher she became ever more self-obsessed and detached from reality. The split from Guy Ritchie probably cut her last link to the normal world.

For mega stars there is always some lackey willing to do your bidding and in the end they come to surround you and keep the real world away. Even Madonna is now looking increasingly peculiar – plastic surgery and exercise combine to make her look more like a muscled female impersonator than a woman.

Roman emperors used to have a slave accompanying them reminding them they were human. That didn’t seem to work.

Also if Jackson’s children were born by in vitrio fertilisation, why not donate some of his own sperm? Or did he actually want white children?
