Predators

The 1987 John McTiernan action flick Predator, now has a worthy successor: Predators. It is an enjoyable popcorn fest, which repeats the jungle theme of the first film, but with a smörgåsbord of dangerous human protagonists. A Russian (who is obviously modelled on the Heavy from Team Fortress 2), an African death squad member, a US special forces member (played by a unfeasibly muscular Adrian Brody), a Yakuza,  a drug cartel enforcer from Mexico, a serial rapist murderer, and an unfortunate unarmed doctor.

Oh, and there’s a beautiful CIA Black Ops assassin sniper who learnt her trade in the Israel Defence Force, who is the moral conscience of the film. Prize for the first person to call this Zionist propaganda.

She appears to be sighting with her left and right eyes alternately in that trailer… wonder if they teach you that in the IDF.

I’ve heard that women make better shots than men tho.

What are predators supposed to be? They dress and act in a tribal manner, with hunting for pleasure seeming to be the sole interest in their society. They appear to be a highly advanced civilization with space travel and nuke wrist watches!? yet their sole purpose seems to be hunting for social status with an unfair advantage. We may assume they either stole their technology or came in to it after a hunting exhibition, or are these ‘hunting’ trips are a purely recreational pursuit within an advanced civilization, like a safari ?

I suspect if you met a Brit on holiday you wouldnt’t learn from their behaviour about Magna Carta, Shakespeare or the Industrial Revolution.

Earth is the galaxy’s equivalent of Prague or Amsterdam. It’s where alien stag parties come to do thair last bit of anal probing before they tie the knot.

There’s going to be a lot of disappointed sci-fi movie buffs if the predator aliens don’t engage in spectacular, full time wholesale butchery on their home planet.

Adrien Brody is one of my favorite actors. He has been a great actor, giving justice to the role he’s playing. It was really surprising seeing him in this movie with all that “wow” muscles. I couldn’t believe he was him, really.

Well anyways, the movie as a whole was good, I can say that it is better than the previous one.

Earth is not the aliens’ equivalent of Prague and Amsterdam. It is the aliens’ equivalent of an African hunting safari.

This abu faris fellow seems to think anal probing means sticking his nose up some one’s ass.

I thought it was good too. Suitably alien yet familiar, without being cheap. All the little but subtle clues that this is not Earth were well done. It was a better drama than AVP1, which overloaded the audience with the ‘prehistory’ (worked out years ago by Dark Horse Comics).

I missed the Israel connection. There was also an Israeli character in the sadly cancelled series, Zero Gravity.

If anyone is interested, here is the leaked script for the Ridley Scott Alien prequel, Alien Harvest:

Predator is one of my favorite futuristic movies. Unlike with other movies, the Predator was packed with breathtaking actions and thrills from the start till the last scene. And I’ve been waiting for this new sequel, the Predators. No doubt, it’s successor is much loaded with lots of surprises to watch up for. Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing this post. Keep it up!

“Prize for the first person to call this Zionist propaganda.”

Zionist propaganda? off course it is. Don’t be naive. They own Hollywood. Did you see an Arab type in this movie? I didn’t see any. Did you? Most Arab-looking characters in Hollywood movies are villains, not victims. I will pay you 1,000 dollars right now if you can point me to just ONE Hollywood movie where the main villain is a Jew. Or maybe point me to a movie where they make fun of Jews. Please show me one movie where the hero look Arab. Don’t mention Aladdin please. Disney’s Aladdin and the princess don’t look like Arabs, actually, the villain in that movie looks extremely Arab. Actually, I can give you tons of movies that make fun of Arabs. By the way the idea of she being a Jew from the IDF looks like something that was added later to the script. I bet you that came from above not from the director. Did you notice she doesn’t even look like a Jew? she has more like a Hispanic type. Guess what? she is BRAZILIAN. She was obviously cast for a Hispanic role, not to represent a Jewish woman.

What do I win? I want Demon’s soul. I love that Game.

‘yet their sole purpose seems to be hunting for social status with an unfair advantage’

I assume you are referring to Big game hunting wild Deer, Boar, grouse and fox hunting where the animals are always given such a sporting chance.

Hunting lodges periodically re-stock with new animals, where purportedly civilised humans often wealthy and of high status parade their high technology and all their shiny kit and seek trophies to further enhance their social status. They even have watches and drive cars and fly in aeroplanes.

One of the all time great action films. This sequel looks like it might have what it takes to be a worthy successor. Adrien Brody was a surprising choice but he really looks the part.

‘I will pay you 1,000 dollars right now if you can point me to just ONE Hollywood movie where the main villain is a Jew’.

‘Miller’s Crossing’ (1990) – Bernie Bernbaum (played by John Tuturro).
‘Lucky Number Slevin’ (2006) – The Rabbi (Ben Kingsley).

‘Or maybe point me to a movie where they make fun of Jews’.

‘You Don’t Mess with the Zohan’ (2008).

‘Please show me one movie where the hero look Arab’.

‘The Wind and the Lion’ (1975).
‘The Kingdom’ (2007).
‘Don’t Mess with the Zohan’ (2008) – Tuturro’s character, ‘the Phantom’, and Dalia (Emmanuell Chiqri).

Are you offering a grand for each example?
